1.  The Government will deposit the 13th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana into the bank accounts of the registered farmers till December 20, 2022.

2. Parliament has passed the Energy Conservation (Amendment) Bill, 2022 with Rajya Sabha approving it yesterday. 

Parliament passes bill to promote use of non-fossil energy sources, such as biomass, ethanol and green hydrogen and allow carbon credit trading in the country. 

3. The Central Government  clarified that there is no proposal under consideration for restoration of the old pension scheme for their employees.

4. Minister of State for Jal Shakti Prahalad Singh Patel said, over 10 crore 68 lakh families provided with tap water connections in country

5. Shri Bhupendra Patel was sworn in for second time as the 18th Chief Minister of Gujarat.

10.  Himachal goverment mulling to restore foundation stone plaque laid by Sonia Gandhi in 2010 : A day after taking the oath of office, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday said that the state government would take up the matter of restoring the foundation stone plaque of Atal Tunnel Rohtang near Manali laid by Sonia Gandhi. 

11. Congress on Monday hit out at the Centre over the India-China troops clash along the Line of Actual Control in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh and said the government needs to take the nation into confidence by discussing the issue in Parliament.

1. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman  asserted that the Indian rupee has been strong against every currency.

2. The Government has said that three lakh 58 thousand crore rupees have been issued under the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme till last month. The scheme was launched in May 2020 as part of Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan to support eligible Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises and business enterprises.

3. Retail inflation, based on the consumer price index (CPI), eases to an eleven-month low of 5.88% in November this year. 

4. Nestle will invest nearly $43 million to launch a new production facility in western Ukraine amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

1. Hearing a batch of pleas challenging the Armed Forces Agnipath recruitment scheme, the Delhi High Court on Monday said the scheme is voluntary and those having any problem should not join the armed forces under it. 

2. The 39th edition of India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (IND-INDO CORPAT) between the Indian Navy and the Indonesian Navy is being conducted from 08 – 19 December 2022. Indian Naval Ship (INS) Karmuk, an indigenously built Missile Corvette participated in the pre-deployment briefing at Belawan, Indonesia. 

India and Indonesia have been carrying out CORPATs twice a year since 2002, with an aim of keeping this vital part of the IOR safe and secure for commercial shipping, international trade and conduct of legitimate maritime activities.

3. Visit of Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff to Sri Lanka  from 13 Dec to 16 Dec 22. 

The CNS has been invited as the Chief Guest and Reviewing Officer for the Commissioning Parade at the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), Trincomalee, scheduled on 15 December 2022.

4. Indian and Chinese troops clashed along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Tawang sector near Yangtse, Arunachal Pradesh along the LAC   on December 9. The face-off resulted in "minor injuries to a few personnel from both sides", the Indian Army said on Monday.

3. Trade Secretary of UK, Kemi Badenoch is scheduled to meet Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal in New Delhi yesterday for the sixth round of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) discussions between India and UK. 

The FTA is expected to facilitate the target of doubling bilateral trade between India and UK by 2030. It will increase India's exports in Leather, Textile, Jewellery and processed Agri products.

 Attack on Parliament House from dastardly terror attack on this day in 2001. The 2001 Indian Parliament attack was a terrorist attack at the Parliament of India in New Delhi on 13 December 2001. The perpetrators were Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, two terrorist organizations were involved.

The attack led to the deaths of six Delhi Police personnel, two Parliament Security Service personnel, and a gardener – in total 9 – and led to increased tensions between India and Pakistan, resulting in the 2001–02 India–Pakistan standoff. The 5 terrorists were killed outside the parliament.

*KARNAVEDHA* is an important tradition in Hinduism. It holds a major significance as it is one of the sixteen major rites a person must perform during the course of his life.This ritual is followed by all castes of Hinduism and it is performed on an auspicious day preferably during the sixth or seventh month or in an odd year, that is third, fifth or seventh year.According to Vedas, this ritual must be performed by both males and females but nowadays it is common among females and few communities’ still demand males to perform this ceremony. This ancient custom has taken a form of a fashion statement these days among young generation

It is usually performed during the sixth month or seventh month or third year or fifth year or 7th year after birth. An auspicious day and auspicious time is chosen for performing the ear piercing ceremony. Special pujas and prayer is done and the ceremony is done under sunlight. Earrings are then offered to the child.

According Hindu scriptures like Dharma Sindhu, Karna Vedha Sanksar must be performed on the 10th, 12th or 16th day after birth of the child. But most people avoid this calculation. They perform it during the 6th or 7th month after birth.
